Evaluation: Representation

My media product creates a representation of pop and r&b music fans. I used bright and bold colours to make it look like a glossy, fashionable, girly lifestyle. I took pictures of girls and boys wearing fashionable clothes with a plain background creating this high-class model look, this helps to connote the audience and attract them to my magazine. In some photos I have used props to show the girly/fashionable side for example, on my front cover I have a picture of a pretty girl wearing make-up, bright lipstick and holding lots of necklaces(beads) in her hand. The photographs I have taken are quite bold and glamorous , their facial expressions aren’t exactly smiling, they are just holding a quite blank or loose eye-contact expression but in other photos there is quite strong eye-contact, in a way made to look more natural, by doing this it represents the target audience. The photographs were taken inside a house with plain backgrounds, the photos having plain backgrounds helps to make my look achieved as it looks more girly and glossy and in a way sexual (but not too much). This isnt challenging the conventions of a normal girly magazine as they use images of pretty and fashionable girls or good looking boys.
